About CIDEIM
The International Center for Medical Training and Research (CIDEIM) is a non-governmental, non-profit autonomous Colombian institution dedicated to investigation of infectious diseases, research training and technological services. Our mission is to promote human development and wellbeing through the generation and application of biomedical knowledge.
Research at CIDEIM is developed along three general lines - prevention and control, host-pathogen interaction, and chemotherapy and resistance - which together constitute an integrated approach to infectious disease. The three lines are directed towards the same goal of finding solutions to health problems through the perspectives of diverse disciplines and basic and applied sciences.
At CIDEIM, each disciplinary area and investigator are part of an integrated and interdependent effort to achieve the same purpose. This is an institutional paradigm, intrinsic to the organizational strategy in which the team of investigators applies their expertise to multidisciplinary projects within the different research lines.

The disciplinary areas include:
* Immunology and cellular biology
* Molecular biology and biochemistry
* Microbiology
* Entomology
* Clinical epidemiology and biostatistics
* Clinical specialties
* Pharmacology

Job Description
******************
CIDEIM seeks a researcher with experience in drug resistance in Plasmodium falciparum in conjunction with in vivo and in vitro susceptibility. This individual will join the existing Malaria group of CIDEIM to continue developing current and new projects focused on generating knowledge about the mechanisms of emergence and dissemination of resistance to antimalarials, which can then be used in the development of public health policies for transmission control at the national, regional and global level. CIDEIM´s Malaria group works in close collaboration with several national and international research institutions with complementary resources and skills, such as: the Karolinska Institute, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Purdue University, and Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research (SFBR).
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in working in a disease endemic setting, within a long established interdisciplinary research program with a team of highly committed investigators and their national and international collaborators.
